CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: After the BRICS summit, noted American economist and Columbia University professor Jeffrey Sachs has made a major projection about India’s growing economic strength. He said India and China could be among the world’s largest economies in the coming decades, and the centre of global economic power could once again move towards Asia.
According to Jeffrey Sachs, in less than the next 25 years, India and China could reach the top level in terms of economic power. In such a situation, the United States could move to third place. He specifically described India’s rapid economic growth and large young population as the country’s future strength.
Sachs believes India has the potential to become the world’s largest economy in this century. He also said that better economic cooperation between India and China could benefit both countries in trade, investment, technology and global supply chains.
He also described BRICS as an important platform in the changing global economic order. According to him, amid the growing influence of countries such as the United States, China, India and Russia, the world is rapidly moving towards a multipolar order.
