Addressing the media, Adityanath said the state Cabinet had passed a resolution expressing gratitude to the Prime Minister for his contribution to Uttar Pradesh’s development. The Chief Minister described the airport as a major infrastructure project that would strengthen the state’s connectivity and support economic growth.

The airport, located in Jewar in Gautam Buddha Nagar district, was inaugurated by Modi on March 28, 2026. It is expected to become a major aviation hub for the National Capital Region, complementing Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport and serving passengers from western Uttar Pradesh and neighbouring areas. <Cite refs={["turn350497search13","turn350497search12"]}/>

The renaming proposal marks a significant development in the airport’s identity. The state Cabinet has approved the proposal; the applicable further approvals and formalities will determine its final implementation.
