CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Selected candidates have questioned the Jharkhand government’s decision to cancel the Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission’s Combined Graduate Level Examination, or JSSC-CGL.
The candidates said that if there were irregularities in the examination process, those responsible should be identified and action should be taken against them. However, they said cancelling the entire examination is affecting the future of candidates who cleared it under the prescribed process.
In its reply filed before the High Court, the government has said that because of irregularities in the examination process, it is difficult to distinguish between candidates selected through proper and improper means. On this basis, the government has described the cancellation of the entire examination and related appointments as appropriate in public interest.
According to the government, candidates had also been informed before selection that the appointments would remain subject to a CID investigation.
On the other hand, the selected candidates said the process had moved forward after complaints related to the examination and the investigation. They questioned what the basis is for cancelling the entire process now, if the examination and appointments were allowed to proceed after the investigation and judicial process.
The decision is said to affect the future of around 2,000 selected candidates. In the matter, the Jharkhand High Court has continued the interim relief granted to the selected candidates. For now, the selected candidates who have received relief will continue to work in their posts.
The next hearing in the case is scheduled for October 7. The court will now hear further arguments on the government’s stand, the objections of the selected candidates and the status of the investigation.
