CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Ayodhya: Retired Air Marshal Jitendra Mishra, who led the Indian Air Force’s Western Air Command during Operation Sindoor, has been appointed the first Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust. After a military career spanning more than four decades, his new responsibility will be linked to the administration and management of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya.
Jitendra Mishra played a key role in Operation Sindoor. In May 2025, he was in command of the Western Air Command during the operation. This was the command that carries critical responsibility for Indian air operations in the western sector along the border with Pakistan. Under his leadership, the Indian Air Force conducted strategic and air operations during the operation.
During Operation Sindoor, the S-400 also played an important role in India’s air defence capability. Mishra later said Pakistan had tried to activate its sleeper cells in India to identify the location of the S-400 system. According to him, the S-400 played an important role in preventing Pakistani fighter aircraft from coming close to the Indian border.
India’s use of long-range precision-strike weapons during Operation Sindoor was also widely discussed. Reports also emerged about the BrahMos missile in the context of this conflict. Jitendra Mishra’s military experience was not limited to a single operation; he served in various command and strategic positions in the Indian Air Force.
After 43 years of military service, Jitendra Mishra has taken up a new responsibility. He joined the Indian Air Force as a fighter pilot in December 1986. During his career, he logged more than 3,000 flying hours and served in several important positions. He has received several honours, including the Sarvottam Yudh Seva Medal, Ati Vishisht Seva Medal and Vishisht Seva Medal.
The Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust has appointed him as the temple’s first CEO. His responsibilities will include the administration and operations of the temple complex, facilities for devotees and the professional management of large-scale arrangements. His appointment comes at a time when the Trust is making changes aimed at further strengthening its administrative structure.
Speaking about his new role, Jitendra Mishra said that after serving the country for decades in the Indian Air Force, receiving a responsibility connected with the Ram Temple was a matter of great fortune for him. He described this new chapter as being linked to the will of Lord Ram.
