Retired Air Marshal Jitendra Mishra, appointed the first Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust, reached Ayodhya on Thursday. After taking charge of the new responsibility in the Ram Temple Trust, he said that after serving the country, he has now received an opportunity to serve Ram devotees.
The CEO post has been created for the first time. Nearly six years after the formation of the Ram Temple Trust, a major change has been made in its administrative system. The trust has created the post of CEO for the first time and has entrusted the responsibility to former Air Marshal Jitendra Mishra. His tenure will be linked to the better operation of the temple’s administrative system, devotee facilities and various projects.
Jitendra Mishra has been a senior officer of the Indian Air Force. He served in the Air Force for more than 38 years and gained more than 3,000 hours of flying experience. In January 2025, he took charge as the chief of the Western Air Command and also led the command during Operation Sindoor.
Now, after military service, he has been given responsibility for the administration and management of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya. In view of his experience, the trust expects that professional management and better coordination in the temple’s arrangements will be strengthened.
The focus will remain on facilities for devotees. The CEO’s responsibilities are likely to include arrangements for darshan, facilities for devotees, staff management, financial monitoring, procurement and tenders, security coordination, IT and digital monitoring, and supervision of projects linked to the temple. The progress of construction work and the system for donations and offerings will also be part of his area of work.
The trust’s new administrative model has also emphasised keeping religious and administrative responsibilities separate. Matters linked to worship practices, religious traditions and rituals will remain within the purview of the religious committee, while the CEO will handle day-to-day administrative operations.
After reaching Ayodhya, Jitendra Mishra described the new responsibility as a special opportunity. His message is clear: after serving the nation for a long period in the Indian Air Force, he will now work for better arrangements and service for devotees coming to the Ram Temple. In view of the continuously rising number of devotees at the Ram Temple and the large-scale arrangements under way, the appointment of the CEO is being seen as an important change in the trust’s administrative structure.
