CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: In a significant achievement for Madhya Pradesh in the field of modern keyhole (laparoscopic) surgery, J.K. Hospital and L.N. Medical College and Research Centre, Bhopal, will host the 127th Association of Minimal Access Surgeons of India Skill Course and Fellowship Examination in Minimal Access Surgery under the aegis of the Association of Minimal Access Surgeons of India.

This prestigious national-level academic event will bring more than 250 surgeons and gynaecologists from across the country onto one platform. Leading laparoscopic and robotic surgeons from India will share their experience on the latest techniques in modern surgery, complex operations and the principles of safe surgical practice.

In the three-day intensive training programme, participants will be trained through HD operative videos, expert lectures, interactive scientific discussions, live endotrainer training and skill-based practice. The programme includes almost all important topics, from basic to advanced laparoscopic and minimally invasive surgery.

In the scientific programme, experts will provide guidance on several advanced subjects, including laparoscopic cholecystectomy, appendicectomy, hernia repair (TEP and TAPP), colorectal, hepatobiliary, upper GI, bariatric, pancreatic, adrenal and spleen surgery, robotic surgery, trauma and acute abdomen management. In the gynaecology sessions, there will be special discussions on total laparoscopic hysterectomy, myomectomy, endometriosis, infertility, hysteroscopy, urogynaecology, gynaecologic oncology and robotic gynaecological surgery.

The programme will conclude with the prestigious FMAS examination, in which participants’ proficiency will be assessed through a written examination, video-based evaluation, endotrainer skill test, practical examination and viva.

Organising chairman Dr Navneet Mishra, organising co-chairman Dr Krishnanand and organising secretary Dr Mayank Gupta said the event is not only a training programme but also an important national platform for the exchange of knowledge, experience and modern techniques among surgeons and gynaecologists from across the country. They said it will give a new direction to the field of minimal access surgery in Madhya Pradesh and will also bring fresh recognition to the state’s medical education and health services.
