Karachi. A case of alleged cheating of women in the name of providing jobs has come to light in Karachi, Pakistan. According to police, around 59 women were called to a farmhouse in the Gadap area with the promise of 25 days of work in a private residential project and payment of 2,000 Pakistani rupees per day.
The women were told that company officials would interview them there. After they reached the farmhouse, the alleged organisers told them that mobile phones were not allowed during the interview and asked everyone to deposit their phones. The women placed their mobile phones at one location.
According to police, after the phones were collected, Sahil Salman, described as the main organiser, allegedly fled the farmhouse with all the mobile phones. After receiving information about the incident, police reached the spot and recorded the statements of the women. A first information report was registered in the case and an investigation was started.
Police have arrested Waqas, who had booked the farmhouse, and Nargis, the alleged coordinator. Raids are being conducted at different locations to trace the main suspect, Sahil Salman. Police are also investigating how the women were contacted in the name of jobs and how many people were involved in the alleged fraud.
The incident has raised concerns about gangs using social media to call young women on the pretext of jobs and cheat them. Police are investigating the case and efforts are continuing to recover the stolen mobile phones.
