CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: The Urban Development and Housing Department has suspended, with immediate effect, in-charge Joint Director Amarsatya Gupta of the Urban Administration and Development Department, Gwalior-Chambal Division, in connection with failure to submit a departmental inquiry report on time.
Gupta had been appointed inquiry officer to examine a complaint regarding financial loss caused to the urban body through irregular payments in construction works at Municipal Council Bhind. He had been directed to complete the inquiry and submit the departmental inquiry report to the directorate within three months. However, despite more than five months passing beyond the stipulated period and repeated reminders, he did not submit the inquiry report.
In the case, the department had issued a show-cause notice to Gupta on August 31, directing him to submit a reply within seven days. He did not submit a reply to the notice within the prescribed period. It also emerged that Gupta had not submitted inquiry reports to the directorate in six other departmental inquiry cases and 15 Lokayukta cases. Similarly, the expected action was not taken in relation to the timely submission of compliance reports in various contempt petitions pending before the Gwalior Bench of the High Court.
Taking serious note of the negligence in all these matters and indifference in the discharge of duties, Commissioner of the Urban Development and Housing Department Sanket Bhondve suspended in-charge Joint Director Amarsatya Gupta with immediate effect. During the suspension period, Gupta’s headquarters will be the Directorate of Urban Administration and Development Department, Bhopal. He will be entitled to subsistence allowance as per rules during the suspension period.
