Vineel Krishna, Joint Secretary in the Government of India’s sports department, visited the Sports Authority of India’s Central Regional Centre, Bhopal, and reviewed sports infrastructure, facilities being provided to athletes and training arrangements.
The visit began at SAI CRC Bhopal, where Abhishek Singh Chauhan, Regional Director, SAI CRC Bhopal, welcomed him. On the occasion, he was briefed about the centre’s achievements, ongoing initiatives, athlete development programmes and future plans prepared to strengthen the sports ecosystem in the region. He inspected the training facilities available at the centre and also interacted with athletes, coaches and officials.
The Regional Director also apprised the Joint Secretary of key proposed projects and achievements aimed at further improving athlete training and sports science support.

During his visit, Vineel Krishna also toured the State Equestrian Academy, the state-owned International Hockey Stadium and the Madhya Pradesh State Shooting Academy. There, he reviewed the training infrastructure, arrangements for athletes’ preparation and the support services available. He also held discussions with academy officials on measures to further improve athletes’ performance and development.
The Joint Secretary also visited the Field of Play at Lower Lake and the State Rowing Academy at Upper Lake. During this, he observed the infrastructure related to rowing, training arrangements and the support system available to athletes, and discussed with officials the progress of the sport and future requirements.

The visit concluded at TT Nagar Stadium, where Vineel Krishna carried out a comprehensive review of sports facilities, training infrastructure and the Sports Science Centre. He held a meeting with academy officials to discuss further strengthening opportunities available for sports development, athlete welfare and high-performance in the state.
The visit reflects the Government of India’s continued commitment to strengthening collaborative efforts between the Centre and the state government for the development of sports infrastructure, promotion of sporting talent and the overall development of athletes.
