He was living in the Mauranipur area of Jhansi under a changed name and identity as Satyanand Shukla. He had made a temple his base there and used to hold a divine darbar wearing an army-like uniform. Devotees from different states of the country as well as from abroad attended his darbar. He is said to have more than one lakh followers on the social media platform Instagram.
According to police, Pradeep Shukla is originally a resident of Chauhan Thok in Hardoi. Several criminal cases, including robbery, assault and Arms Act cases, are registered against him. Police had been looking for him for a long time. To evade arrest, he had created a separate identity at a temple in Kuraincha village in the Mauranipur area of Jhansi. He regularly held a divine darbar on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. During this, he claimed to cure people’s illnesses and resolve their problems.
Earlier, on October 10, a joint team of Hardoi and Jhansi police had arrested him, but he was released after being produced in court. Despite this, legal action in old criminal cases against him continued. According to police, a warrant had been issued by the court in an old Arms Act case. On the basis of this warrant, he was arrested again on November 4 and produced before the court.
According to police records, permanent warrants had been issued against the accused for failing to appear in court in old cases. Police are now taking further legal action in the pending cases against him.
