CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: A sensational murder case has come to light in Delhi’s Kalindi Kunj area. Police said they have solved the murder of 38-year-old Gul Hasan and arrested his father, Talukdar Ansari, and his associate, Mohammad Waseem alias Akram. According to police, the deceased was suffering from schizophrenia and the family was troubled over his mental condition.
Police found the young man’s body on the evening of August 23 in an abandoned container near the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway, next to the NTPC wall. There were serious injury marks on the head, and a blood-stained concrete stone was recovered nearby. Police then registered a murder case and began an investigation.
During the probe, police examined footage from hundreds of CCTV cameras installed in the area. The footage showed the deceased going towards the spot with two people, but he did not return. On the basis of this lead, police traced the suspects and detained both accused from a tailoring factory in Govindpuri.
According to police, questioning revealed that the accused father had taken his son out of the house on the pretext of taking him to a doctor. On the way, he was allegedly lured with the promise of a samosa and taken to the deserted container. There, he was allegedly attacked with a heavy concrete stone and strangled to death with a cloth rope.
Police said the accused had initially planned to throw the body into the Yamuna, but could not do so because of the crowd there. They later left the body in the container and fled. Police said they recovered, at the instance of the accused, the concrete stone used in the killing, blood-stained clothes and the cloth rope used for strangulation.
Police are now investigating the circumstances behind the murder and other aspects related to the role of the accused. The incident has also raised questions about the serious challenges faced by people struggling with mental illness and their families.
