CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Actress Kareena Kapoor has spoken openly about Bollywood’s tendency to repeat successful film formulas. Citing actor Ranbir Kapoor’s film Animal as an example, she said that after one kind of film succeeds, the industry starts making several films in the same direction. According to Kareena, this kind of “herd mentality” can limit creativity.
Kareena also expressed concern over the increasing violence, crime and gore content in films today. She said mainstream cinema currently appears to be placing greater emphasis on thrillers, crime, bloodshed and violence, while space for entertainment, colour, romance and emotional stories is shrinking.
The actress also acknowledged that audience preference plays a major role in deciding the direction of films. According to her, when a formula succeeds at the box office, producers and directors begin repeating similar stories. However, Kareena is confident that audiences are also ready to accept different and new stories.
