CNN Central News & Networks / ITDC India ePress / ITDC News /Agencies/ Bhopal: CNN Central News & Networks / ITDC India ePress / ITDC News / Agencies: Sharp statements on issues linked to religion, culture and politics were made at the three-day Kashi Sanskriti Sansad-2026 held in Varanasi. At the event, a former Trinamool Congress MP made serious allegations against West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, saying she had joined hands with foreign forces. Her statement has triggered discussion in political and religious circles. However, no independent evidence has emerged to support the allegations of links with foreign forces.

Saints, religious leaders, Mahamandaleshwars and representatives of various religious organisations from across the country attended the Sanskriti Sansad. During the programme, speakers stressed the protection of Sanatan culture, religious education and strengthening the gurukul tradition.

In this context, the Shankaracharya made an important suggestion on the use of the funds collected for the Ram temple being built in Ayodhya. He said that along with temple construction, the money should also be used to establish gurukuls and centres for imparting values, so that the new generation can be educated in Indian culture, religious traditions and moral values. In his view, the construction of religious places alone is not enough; the expansion of cultural and educational institutions is also necessary.

The Sanskriti Sansad also discussed issues such as framing effective laws for the protection of cows, the challenges of religious conversion and connecting the younger generation with Indian traditions. Speakers appealed to the saint community to increase cultural awareness and encourage the gurukul system. The event held in Kashi is being seen as a collective deliberation by the saint community on issues related to Sanatan traditions, religious education and cultural heritage.
