Kauvery Hospital, based in Salem, Tamil Nadu, highlighted the importance of breast cancer awareness and timely detection under an initiative of the Indian Women Network (IWN) of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII). The initiative aims to make women aware of early signs of breast cancer, regular check-ups and timely medical consultation.
During the programme, experts said that when breast cancer is detected at an early stage, the chances of better treatment outcomes increase. Women need to pay attention to unusual changes in their bodies and consult a doctor in case of any suspicious symptoms. Signs such as a lump in the breast, changes in size or texture, skin abnormalities and unusual discharge from the nipple should not be ignored.
Experts also clarified that along with awareness, regular medical check-ups and screening according to age and risk are important. Any change in the breast does not always mean cancer, but it is necessary to get it examined.
Kauvery Hospital’s initiative aims to remove hesitation among women regarding health issues, provide correct information and encourage timely examination and treatment.
