CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Poet Day Celebrated at Shri Saty Sai Women’s College on the Birth Anniversary of National Poet Maithili Sharan Gupt

Shri Saty Sai Women’s College, Bhopal — accredited with NAAC A+ grade — celebrated ‘Poet Day’ on the occasion of the birth anniversary of national poet Maithili Sharan Gupt, organized by the Department of Hindi.

On this occasion, the students presented a poetic-drama performance based on the theme “The Literary World of National Poet Maithili Sharan Gupt”. They creatively showcased his renowned works such as Bharat-Bharati, Yashodhara, Saket, Urmila, and Panchvati, bringing to life his compositions on patriotism and womanhood on stage.

Students from all faculties of the college enthusiastically participated in this poetic-drama. Surabhi Mesra, the narrator of the event, skillfully interwove the poet’s compositions, adding powerful coherence to the presentation and making it highly impactful.

On this occasion, Director Pratibha Singh emphasized the importance of organizing such events that instill the values of Indian culture and traditions. Praising the students’ performance, she noted that the female characters created by Maithili Sharan Gupt teach us how a woman can selflessly sacrifice for the welfare of the nation and society, beyond her personal interests.

She further remarked that God has made woman the finest creation of the world, a reservoir of creative power. Citing the example of a seed, she said: “Just as a seed holds positive energy within the earth and later grows into a tree providing shade, fruits, flowers, and oxygen, so too has God endowed woman with similar transformative power. Understand it and use it wisely.”

Principal Archana Srivastava stressed the importance of reading books over relying on mobile phones or Google. She noted that reading enriches our language and vocabulary, making our expression more effective. She urged the students to read great Hindi literary figures like Maithili Sharan Gupt and learn from their writings.

Law Principal Anju Bajpai also highly praised the event.

On this occasion, a special wall-magazine titled ‘Falk Patrika’ dedicated to Maithili Sharan Gupt’s birth anniversary was also launched by the Department of Hindi.
