CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Kerala Chief Minister V.D. Satheesan has accepted the apology of expelled Congress leader Anil Kumar, popularly known as Chenthi Anil, who had allegedly waylaid and confronted the Chief Minister’s convoy in Thiruvananthapuram. Satheesan said he had no personal grudge against Anil and decided to forgive him after the former Congress leader apologised following his release from jail.
The incident occurred on August 28 when Anil and others allegedly intercepted Satheesan’s convoy over his absence from a programme organised by a local society. A case was registered against Anil, and the Congress subsequently expelled him from its primary membership. He was arrested and later granted bail.
After his release, Anil expressed regret over his conduct and said he would apologise personally to the Chief Minister if given an opportunity. Satheesan later praised the gesture, saying that by apologising after coming out of jail, Anil had shown greater maturity.
Satheesan’s decision to move past the controversy has brought a conciliatory note to an episode that had sparked political and legal tensions within Kerala Congress circles. The case and the disciplinary action against Anil, however, remain significant in the broader political debate over party discipline, public conduct and disagreements between local leaders and senior political figures.
