CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Chairperson of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) and former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia has called on all citizens to unite for a better future of the country and the establishment of democracy.

She made this appeal during a virtual address from London on Monday to senior party leaders and others present in Dhaka, on the occasions of Eid-ul-Fitr and Independence Day.

According to the Dhaka Tribune, Khaleda Zia extended greetings to BNP leaders on both Eid and Independence Day. She emphasized the importance of mutual cooperation and collective efforts for the restoration of democracy.

The event was organized at her office in Gulshan, Dhaka. BNP’s Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman also joined virtually from London. The program began with a welcome speech by BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir.

In her speech, Khaleda Zia stated that the sacrifices and struggles of party members have not been in vain and will never go in vain. She urged everyone to work together to safeguard the people’s right to vote. She also conveyed Eid greetings to the citizens. She became emotional upon seeing everyone after a long time.

Notably, the veteran leader has been residing at her son’s home in London for several months, where she is undergoing medical treatment.
