CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Amid reports that the INIDA bloc leaders are attempting to woo the allies of the BJP, TDP chief N. Chandrababu Naidu, who emerged as kingmaker winning 16 Lok Sabha seats in Andhra Pradesh, said the alliance with the BJP and Janasena was formed for the welfare and development of the state.
The National Democratic Alliance of TDP, BJP and the Janasena won a landslide victory in the simultaneous Lok Sabha and assembly polls in Andhra Pradesh, bagging 21 Parliament and 164 assembly seats.
TDP won 16 Lok Sabha seats, BJP three, and the Janasena two.
Chandrababu Naidu said he is heading to Delhi and thanked the voters for reposing faith in him. Naidu, along with Janasena chief Pawan Kalyan is scheduled to attend an NDA meeting in the national capital.
His visit to Delhi also comes amid reports that the Congress is likely to speak to Naidu, who is its erstwhile ally, even as the INDIA bloc explores the possibility of government formation.
“Today, I am heading to Delhi. After the completion of the election, this is my first press meet before going to Delhi. I am very glad for the support of the voters. Ups and downs are common in politics. Many political leaders and parties have been ousted in history. This is a historic election. Even voters from abroad have returned to their hometowns to exercise their votes,” he has been quoted as saying.
Despite the speculations of the INDIA bloc’s possible overtures to him, he appeared to be sticking with the NDA as he said, “An alliance has been formed for the welfare and development of the state. 55.38 per cent of votes have been cast. The TDP secured 45 per cent, and the YSRCP secured 39 per cent. Many TDP activists have faced sleepless nights and have been tortured. Even media was obstructed in the state and CID cases were lodged on media houses.”
