CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Several trains on the Konkan Railway route were cancelled or diverted on Wednesday after a tunnel in Goa’s Pernem got waterlogged, said officials.

Train traffic on the route was first disrupted from 2.35 pm on Tuesday after water began oozing out in the Pernem tunnel, which lies between Madure and Pernem.

Konkan Railway Corporation (KRCL) Deputy General Manager Baban Ghatge said the water was removed from the tunnel by night following which traffic clearance was issued at 10.13 pm.

However, by 2.59 am on Wednesday, the tunnel was again filled with water, this time with a higher intensity.

This has forced the authorities to cancel a few trains on the Konkan Railway route while some others were cancelled.

KRCL on Wednesday released the list of trains that were cancelled. These include 10104 Mandovi Express (from Margao to Mumbai), 50108 Margao to Sawantwadi (Maharashtra) passenger train, 22120 Margao to Mumbai Tejas Express, 12052 Margao to Mumbai Janashatabdi Express and 10106 Sawantwadi-Diva Express.
