CNN Central News & Networks / ITDC India ePress / ITDC News /Agencies/ Bhopal: A case has come to light in which a young woman from Korba in Chhattisgarh was allegedly taken to Myanmar on the pretext of being provided a job abroad and was held captive there.

According to information, the woman had received a job offer in Bangkok through social media. Hoping for better employment and an attractive opportunity, she trusted the offer, but after reaching abroad, the circumstances changed completely. It is alleged that after she reached Myanmar, her passport was taken away and she was held captive. She was then pressured to commit online fraud against Indian citizens. It is being reported that she was made to target people through the internet and carry out fraud.

The case points to networks linked to human trafficking and cyber fraud operating in the name of overseas jobs. The risk of young people being targeted on social media with offers of attractive salaries, foreign jobs and easy selection processes remains persistent. Before accepting such offers, it is necessary to officially verify the company, appointment letter, visa and documents related to employment abroad. If trapped abroad, Indian citizens should contact the Indian embassy and the relevant government agencies. The woman’s safe return and an investigation into the related allegations are important.
