CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: On the appeal of the Mandi Committee Chaurai, the High Court, Jabalpur issued orders for payment of approximately ₹96 lakh to 64 farmers for the agricultural produce they had sold.

In the Krishi Upaj Mandi Committee Chaurai, a licensed registered firm, Gyatashree Traders Chaurai, failed to make payment to farmers for notified agricultural produce purchased from them and defaulted. On the application of the Mandi Committee Chaurai, the Tehsildar Court issued a Revenue Recovery Certificate (RRC) against the firm for recovery of dues. A total payable amount of ₹96,51,500 (Rupees Ninety-Six Lakh Fifty-One Thousand Five Hundred) was recovered. The recovered amount was deposited into the Mandi’s account.

Since permission for payment to farmers was not obtained from the Civil Court/District Court, the Mandi Committee, following instructions from Kumar Purushottam, Managing Director of the Madhya Pradesh State Agricultural Marketing Board, Bhopal, took continuous and prompt legal action and filed a petition through an advocate in the Hon’ble High Court, Jabalpur.

On 30.04.2026, the Hon’ble High Court passed a judgment in the interest of farmers and granted approval for payment of the amount to them.

As per the order of the Hon’ble High Court, the Managing Director directed the Mandi Committee Chaurai to complete the payment process to farmers within the stipulated time frame.

Due to continuous efforts and legal action by the Mandi Board, the amount was recovered from the trader and ensured payment of the farmers for their produce.

The Mandi Board has issued special instructions to the secretaries of all mandi committees in the state to ensure that no delay or default occurs in farmer payments under any circumstances, and that payment for agricultural produce purchased from traders is made within the stipulated time period.
