CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: The sacred festival of Krishna Janmashtami was celebrated with great enthusiasm by the Indian Knowledge Tradition Cell at Sarojini Naidu Government Girls Postgraduate Autonomous College.
On the occasion, Mata Sat Vidyanand Swamini was present as the keynote speaker to acquaint the students with ancient Indian traditions. All guests were welcomed with peacock feathers and bouquets.
Welcoming the guests, Principal Dr Pratima Yadav highlighted an untouched aspect of Krishna on Shri Krishna Janmashtami. Through the dialogue of Radha and Rukmini, she said their love for Krishna was divine. She said Krishna’s saga is not merely a subject of study but of reflection. Krishna, she said, is Madhav in love, Yogeshwar in action and a charioteer in times of crisis, and can be a guiding source of inspiration in present-day life.
Keynote speaker Mata Sat Vidyanand Swamini, speaking on Krishna’s aspect of karma, said students build their own personalities. She said this is a time to learn, every person has the freedom to act, and one should not dwell on what has passed but think of the future and develop a multidimensional personality.
Explaining the objective of the programme, Dr Nisha Jain, in-charge of the Indian Knowledge Tradition Cell, said students today are trapped in the Kurukshetra of worries about their future and careers. She said they are surrounded by stress and depression, and in such a situation they should recognise the Krishna within themselves through the knowledge of the Gita and move ahead with positive thinking.
For the Krishna Janmotsav programme, a tableau of Krishna was decorated by Dr Anjali Arakh from the painting department. Devotional music was presented by Dr Neena Srivastava of the music department and her students. Dr Richa Pathak presented a beautiful performance by students from the dance department.
A fancy dress competition was also organised, in which students gave attractive stage presentations dressed as Krishna and Radha. Dr Preeti Pachori, Dr Shraddha Dubey and Dr Bhavna Ramaiya served as judges. In the competition, Deeksha Kushwaha secured first place, Kanishka Soni second place and Swara Damle third place. Consolation prizes were given to the remaining students.
From the Indian Knowledge Tradition Cell, Dr Aparna Badal, Dr Preeti Pachori, Dr Kalpana Jamolkar, Dr Prachi Singh, Dr Nutan Kewat and Dr Govind Mansure were present, along with a large number of students and the entire college family.
At the beginning of the programme, while delivering the welcome address, Prof Harish Arora of PGDAV College (Evening), University of Delhi, and patron and guide of “Sahityayan”, said the objective of “Sahityayan” is not limited only to literature or language. He said the organisation will take forward language, literature, art and culture in an integrated manner and establish dialogue between experts from various fields and society.
He said the organisation will also organise in-person programmes in the future, along with online events.
The programme was conducted by Aviral Abhilash Mishra, a research scholar at the University of Delhi. Dr Prabhakar Kumar, Dinesh Kaushik, Sakshi, Hansraj, Sahdev Singh, Nitesh Kumar Pandey, Harish Chaudhary, Rajendra Pal, Reshmi Kumari, Praveen Tripathi, Vishwani Mishra, Shubham Shastri and Love Kumar Pandey played an important role in the organising committee.
