Girishan from Kerala provided detailed training on the practical aspects of Kudiyattam.
He trained participants through live demonstrations of Kudiyattam’s acting tradition, body movement, eye expressions, hand gestures, physical control and practical methods of stage presentation. On the occasion, participants also practised various acting techniques themselves and closely understood Kudiyattam’s distinctive presentation style, emotional expression and character-building techniques.
Girishan said Kudiyattam is not merely a theatrical presentation, but a unique synthesis of acting, practice and discipline. He placed special emphasis on continuity of practice, physical control and the subtleties of emotional expression.
At the end of the session, participants received answers to their questions and described the practical training as highly useful and inspiring.
Programme coordinator Prof. Kripa Shankar Sharma welcomed Girishan, while co-coordinator Dr. Sangeeta Gundecha proposed the vote of thanks.
