CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Indian spinner Kuldeep Yadav produced a superb performance in England’s County Championship, taking 10 wickets in a match for the first time in first-class cricket. Playing for Yorkshire against Essex, he claimed a total of 10 wickets for 120 runs across both innings. On the strength of this performance, Yorkshire handed Essex a heavy defeat by an innings and 106 runs.
Kuldeep took 4 wickets for 70 runs in the first innings, while in the second innings he sent 6 batters back to the pavilion for 50 runs. This is the best bowling performance of his first-class career. Yorkshire had scored 390 runs in their first innings, in reply to which Essex were bowled out for 171. Forced to follow on, Essex’s second innings also ended at 113.
Before making his mark with the ball, Kuldeep also contributed with the bat. He scored 36 runs off 94 balls and shared an important 83-run partnership for the eighth wicket with Dom Bess. The performance is also significant for Kuldeep because he is trying to secure a regular place in India’s Test team. This 10-wicket achievement has strengthened his claim before the selectors.
