CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Three Army personnel and ASP Kulgam were injured in a gunfight with terrorists during an encounter in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kulgam district, local media reported.
Following specific intelligence inputs about terrorists hiding in Adigam Devsar, the security forces began the encounter on Saturday morning. Two terrorists are believed to be trapped during the search and cordon operation, which began in Adigam Devsar area of the district.
This comes a day after Jammu and Kashmir police arrested six terrorist associates in Pulwama. Arms and ammunition were recovered from them.
The arrests came after police received tipoff that a a Pakistan-based Kashmiri terrorist belonging to Jaish-e-Mohammad was recruiting youths who were motivated to join its ranks.
Some of these youths, who were part of this module, were from Tral area of Awantipura and Kulgam, said officials. They were given pistols, grenades, IEDs and other explosives to commit terror attacks with the help of an over-ground worker (OGW) in jail.
In order to join the terror ranks, these youth were told to carry out terror attacks by resorting to target killing, detonating IEDs or hurling grenades in public places, on security forces and non-local labourers.
