CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh State Agricultural Marketing (Mandi) Board Commissioner-cum-Managing Director Kumar Purushottam conducted a surprise inspection of the Agricultural Produce Market Committee, Berasia. During the inspection, he reviewed in detail the facilities being provided to farmers in the mandi and the farmer-friendly arrangements, and assessed the functioning of the mandi.
Kumar Purushottam interacted with farmers, traders, hammals and weighmen present in the mandi and obtained information about their problems and suggestions. He said providing transparent, accessible and quality services to farmers in mandis is the Mandi Board’s highest priority, and all arrangements should be operated with a farmer-centric approach.
During the inspection, the office branches were reviewed. Thereafter, he inspected the lab set up in the e-NAM branch and the operation of the e-Mandi system, and expressed satisfaction with the work. He also inspected other civic facilities, including the farmers’ rest house, park and garden located in the mandi premises.
The Commissioner-cum-Managing Director toured the mandi premises and inspected the auction shed, CC road, toilets, the grading and cleaning plant under construction, and the site identified for an electronic weighbridge with a capacity of 10 metric tonnes. He also inspected the canteen being operated under the farmers’ meal arrangement, interacted with farmers and obtained information about the facilities available.
He also reviewed the DVI information broadcast system installed in the mandi premises, the e-Mandi system operating at the entrance gate, and the cleanliness and sanitation arrangements in the premises, and expressed satisfaction. During this, the presence of mandi employees and security guards in the prescribed dress code was checked, and discussions were held with employees regarding the mandi’s daily work and arrangements.
After the inspection, Kumar Purushottam also visited the proposed new fruit and vegetable mandi premises, reviewed the progress of development works and issued necessary directions.
On the occasion, the area’s popular MLA, Hon’ble Vishnu Khatri, Bhopal division Joint Director Savita Jhaniya, Superintending Engineer Madhukar Panwar, Executive Engineer S.C. Goyal, Berasia Tehsildar Durga Patle, Agricultural Produce Market Committee Berasia Secretary Sunil Kumar Bhalekar, along with officers and employees of the Mandi Board and Mandi Committee, were present.
