CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Indian students studying medicine in Kyrgyzstan are facing a new challenge. Thirteen medical universities in Kyrgyzstan have failed to secure recognition under the Kyrgyz government’s mandatory state accreditation process. The Indian Embassy has advised students to check the accreditation status of these institutions and verify a university’s regulatory status before seeking admission in future.
Under the new rules in Kyrgyzstan, all medical universities and colleges were required to complete the state accreditation process by June 1, 2026. Institutions that fail to obtain accreditation will not be allowed to admit new students or issue academic documents of the state standard. In some cases, there is also a provision for suspension of academic licences.
Kyrgyzstan’s Health Ministry has also laid down a procedure to transfer students studying in non-accredited institutions to accredited institutions. However, Indian students continue to face questions over how their studies, practical training and continuity of curriculum will be ensured after any transfer.
For registration of foreign medical graduates in India, compliance with the rules prescribed by the National Medical Commission is mandatory. The Indian Embassy has advised students to obtain complete information directly from the concerned university about the course, training, internship and the institution’s accreditation status before taking admission.
