CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: New services under the Siddha medical system have been initiated in the AYUSH Department of AIIMS. On this occasion, AIIMS Executive Director Prof. Ajay Singh stated, “The Siddha medical system is an ancient practice that is highly effective in treating chronic diseases while also promoting overall health and wellness. The introduction of Siddha medicine at AIIMS will offer patients a new and comprehensive treatment option. We believe that the combination of Siddha and modern medicine will provide patients with better and more precise care.”

Under Siddha medicine, both outpatient and inpatient departments at AIIMS will offer services, including traditional treatment methods like Varma Maruthuvam (pressure manipulation therapy). This system is particularly suitable for treating neurological disorders, arthritis, skin diseases, kidney stones, UTIs, respiratory diseases, diabetes, hypertension, and heart diseases.

The Siddha medical system encompasses various branches such as general medicine, surgery, pediatrics, obstetrics and gynecology, and dietetics. It also utilizes diagnostic tools like pulse, urine analysis, and other clinical instruments. New treatment procedures, including Thokkanam, Varmam, Ottradam, Vedhu, and Yoga, have been incorporated, proving effective in treating complex conditions such as cervical spondylosis and paraplegia.

Prof. Ajay Singh stated that this new initiative by the AYUSH Department aims to take a significant step toward holistic healthcare and ensure that patients receive scientifically backed and effective treatments.
