CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Makhanlal Chaturvedi National University of Journalism and Communication’s Electronic Media Department recently organized a master class on ground reporting, conducted by the university’s Vice-Chancellor, Mr. K.G. Suresh. Addressing students at the Swami Vivekananda Auditorium in Vikramshila, he said, “I still consider myself a field reporter. Real journalism is about ground reporting, because we see and hear everything firsthand when we go to the place.” Prof. Suresh emphasized that unless one goes out and reports on the ground, they cannot learn journalism. He said that observing each detail meticulously is what ground reporting is all about.
Addressing students of the Electronic Media Department, Prof. Suresh urged them to practice fact-based journalism. He stressed that a journalist must present both sides to the public, so they should work impartially. Prof. Suresh also shared his experiences from his journalism stints in Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Nepal with the students. Additionally, he encouraged students to study literature, stating that it enriches language and provides a broader vision.
The master class was moderated by Producer Ramdeen Tyagi, under the guidance of Professor Monica Varma, Head of the Electronic Media Department. A large number of faculty members and students from the Electronic Media Department were present at the event.
