CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: In compliance with the newly issued SOP by the Madhya Pradesh State Legal Services Authority, Jabalpur, the District Legal Services Authority, Bhopal had issued a notification regarding contractual appointments to the office of the Legal Aid Defence Counsel established under the Legal Aid Defence Counsel Modified Scheme, 2022. The notification invited applications for 01 post of Chief Legal Aid Defence Counsel, 03 posts of Deputy Chief Legal Aid Defence Counsel, and 06 posts of Assistant Legal Aid Defence Counsel.
Subsequently, the Hon’ble Madhya Pradesh High Court, Jabalpur, passed an order in Writ Petition No. 36687/2025 (Ramkishan Soni and Others vs. Union of India and Others) along with related petitions. The said recruitment advertisement had been issued in compliance with the new SOP formulated by the Madhya Pradesh State Legal Services Authority for the recruitment of Legal Aid Defence Counsel.
However, the said SOP has been set aside/cancelled by the Hon’ble High Court through the above-mentioned order. In compliance with this order, the recruitment advertisement issued for the selection of Chief, Deputy Chief, and Assistant Legal Aid Defence Counsel on a contractual basis under the Legal Aid Defence Counsel Scheme has been cancelled.
