CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: A legal awareness programme was organised at Sant Hirdaram Girls College in collaboration with the District Legal Services Authority, Bhopal. The objective of the programme was to make students aware of their legal rights, free legal aid and various ways to access justice.
District Legal Services Authority, Bhopal Secretary and Judicial Officer Suneet Agrawal and Kadambini Shiksha Samiti Chairman Dinesh Sharma attended the programme as chief guests. Hero Gyanchandani, Director, SHGC, and Ghanshyam Boolchandani, Secretary, Shaheed Hemu Kalani Educational Society, were also present.
Addressing the programme, Hero Gyanchandani highlighted the importance of legal awareness for students. He said the opportunity to interact directly with a judicial officer and understand the legal system through him was extremely important for the students. Introducing Sant Hirdaram College, he also gave detailed information about the various works and contributions being made by the Shaheed Hemu Kalani Educational Society in the fields of education and social development.

At the programme, District Legal Services Authority, Bhopal Judge and Secretary Suneet Agrawal informed the students about various legal subjects and made them aware of their rights and the law. Information was given on legal provisions, women’s safety, women’s rights and the process of obtaining legal aid when required. It was also explained that the District Legal Services Authority plays an important role in providing free legal assistance to needy and eligible persons.
The judge encouraged the students to remain aware of the law, understand their rights and seek proper guidance in the event of any legal problem. He answered questions raised by the students from the dais and addressed their queries. Detailed information was also provided on cyber issues and the Motor Vehicles Act.

On this occasion, PLV Dinesh Sharma shared helpline numbers for women and children. He said complaints related to cyber fraud can be made on 1930, the toll-free number of the National Legal Services Authority is 15100, and for the police helpline or other necessary complaints, people can dial 112 and report their problem.
Through the programme, students understood legal rights, available support services and the importance of responsible citizenship. Through this initiative, the college reaffirmed its commitment to promoting legal literacy and developing awareness about access to justice in society.
