Another incident of a leopard attack has come to light in Dhari taluka of Gujarat’s Amreli district. A leopard attacked the daughter of a family working as farm labourers in the limits of Devla village. During the incident, the girl was bathing in the field when the leopard suddenly reached there and pounced on her. She suffered serious injuries to her neck and chest in the attack.

Family members and local residents immediately took the girl to Dhari hospital for treatment. As her condition was serious, doctors referred her to Amreli for better treatment. After the incident, fear has spread in nearby fields and rural areas. Labourer families working in the fields have become worried about the safety of their children.

Earlier, in the limits of Nagdhara village in Dhari taluka, a leopard had also attacked a seven-year-old child. The child was sleeping with his family in a wadi located in the field. He was injured in the attack, which took place around 4 am, and had to be taken to hospital for treatment. After two consecutive incidents, concern has grown in the area over the increasing conflict between humans and wildlife.

Local residents have demanded that the Forest Department increase patrolling in the affected areas and set up cages to catch the attacking leopard. Villagers are watching the Forest Department’s action and monitoring closely.
