CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Bloemfontein. South Africa’s young batter Lhuan-dre Pretorius has created history in T20 cricket. Playing for the Titans against the Knights, he smashed an unbeaten 188 off just 79 balls. During the explosive innings, Pretorius hit 15 fours and 13 sixes. His strike rate was 237.97.
Riding on Pretorius’s innings, the Titans scored 267 runs in 20 overs. He finished just 12 runs short of a double century. He completed his half-century in only 24 balls, reached his century in 40 balls and got to 150 in 58 balls.
With this innings, 20-year-old Pretorius broke West Indies legend Chris Gayle’s 13-year-old record. Gayle had scored an unbeaten 175 off 66 balls for Royal Challengers Bengaluru against Pune Warriors in the IPL in 2013. The record for the highest individual score in men’s T20 cricket now belongs to Pretorius.
Pretorius has also been in outstanding recent form. Last month, he scored 101 off 53 balls for South Africa against Namibia in a T20 international. After the Titans’ 267-run innings, the Knights were bowled out for 143, and the Titans won the match by 124 runs.
