CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal:In a tragic incident on October 7, 2025, four workers lost their lives, and six others were injured when a service lift collapsed at RKM Powergen Pvt Ltd’s facility in the Dabhra area of Uchpinda village, Sakti district, Chhattisgarh.
The accident occurred late Tuesday night when the workers were descending after completing their routine maintenance tasks. The lift, which had a capacity of approximately 2,000 kilograms, plummeted from a significant height, causing immediate injuries to all ten occupants.
Emergency response teams rushed the injured to Jindal Fortis Hospital in Raigarh. Despite medical efforts, four workers succumbed to their injuries, while six others remain hospitalized and are undergoing treatment.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the lift had undergone maintenance on September 29. Authorities are probing the incident to determine the exact cause of the collapse and whether any negligence was involved.
This incident has raised serious concerns about industrial safety standards and maintenance protocols in private power plants across the state. The government has promised a thorough investigation and appropriate action to ensure such tragedies are prevented in the future.
