CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Students of Bhopal’s LN Medical College undertook an educational visit to the tourism village of Kotara in Rajgarh district with the objective of developing a real understanding of rural tourism, local culture and village life.
The visit was organised under the concept of knowledge tourism, giving students an opportunity to experience rural life first-hand. The programme began in the traditional manner, with students welcomed to the beat of drums, applied tilak and presented flowers.
During the visit, the students observed the rural homestays developed in Kotara village. They also enjoyed activities including walking on gedi, a bhajan mandali performance, swinging on trees at the farm, flute playing, storytelling and making earthen pots on the potter’s wheel.
After morning tea and snacks, the students visited local tourist sites including the Shaka Shyam temple and Solah Stambh. In the afternoon, they were served the traditional local dish dal-bafla. After evening tea and snacks, they also visited Chidikho Wildlife Sanctuary on the return journey.
During the visit, the students interacted with homestay operators and learned about their experiences and the benefits of rural tourism. Dr D K Satpati, Dean, Student Welfare, who was present during the visit, appreciated the programme. The visit by LN Medical students was described as a meaningful initiative of the Tourism Department, connecting them with new experiences and encouraging them to visit such destinations with their families in the future.
