CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Under the aegis of the Association of Indian Universities, the South West Zone Inter-University Karate Championship is being hosted by LNCT University. The event was inaugurated by Director Poonam Chouksey, Vice Chairperson of LNCT Group, and Chancellor of LNCT Vidyapeeth University Indore, along with NK Thapak, Vice-Chancellor of LNCT University, Nalini Mishra, Dean of Medical College, Pankaj Kumar Jain, Sports Director of LNCT Group, and Supriya Jatav, Tournament Director.

Competition Secretary V.S. Panwar shared that on the first day, matches for Men’s Individual Kata and Team Kata categories were conducted. In Men’s Individual Kata, Chirag Pawar from Sage University Bhopal, Dipankar Konwar from Mahatma Gandhi University Kottayam, Rakshansh Amravanshi from Barkatullah University, and M.P. Jagrit from RV University advanced to the semifinals. In the Team Kata category, teams from MG University Kottayam, University of Calicut, Mohanlal Sukhadia University, and Mangalore University Karnataka reached the semifinals.

Additionally, matches for the Men’s Individual Kumite (-50 kg) category were conducted late into the evening. All semifinal matches for the completed categories will be held starting tomorrow morning. Panwar further informed that approximately 550 players, coaches, and officials from 96 universities are participating in the event. The program was hosted by Tanwant Singh.
