CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: The Department of Legal Studies at LNCT University organised a two-day international conference on the development of constitutional law and its global perspective. Eminent jurists, senior advocates, academics and legal experts from India and abroad took part in the conference.
The inaugural session was attended by chief guest Justice A.H.M. Nawaz, Judge, Supreme Court of Sri Lanka; LNCT University Chancellor J.N. Chouksey; Santhanam Krishnan of the Commonwealth Lawyers Association; Devvrat, president of the Supreme Court Advocates-on-Record Association; Barrister Rupert Wheeler from London, Britain; University Vice-Chancellor Dr Narendra Kumar Thapak; Dean of the Faculty of Law Dr Mukesh Sahu; and other distinguished guests.
After the inauguration, various technical sessions of the conference discussed important issues related to the Constitution and democratic governance. Experts shared their views on freedom of expression, the basic structure doctrine of the Constitution and various other aspects of constitutional law.
The sessions were addressed by senior advocates of the Supreme Court of India, including Jaideep Gupta, Guru Krishnakumar, Mohan Katarki and Jatinder Cheema, along with advocate Siddharth Sijoria and other noted legal experts.
The conference saw an exchange of views on Indian and global perspectives on constitutional law. The event was particularly useful for students, giving them an opportunity to listen to and interact with eminent jurists and advocates from India and abroad.
Participants described the conference as important for students’ academic and professional development. At the closing session, LNCT University Chancellor J.N. Chouksey expressed happiness over the success of the conference and announced that the university would organise this international conference every year.
He said its objective was to promote students’ academic development, legal knowledge and international academic dialogue. The two-day conference concluded successfully.
