CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Various public awareness programmes were organised at LNCT University under the drug de-addiction campaign “Keeping Away From Intoxicants Is Essential 2.0”, with the objective of eliminating drug abuse from society and increasing awareness among youth about addiction. The programme aimed to inform students about the harmful effects of intoxicants and inspire them to adopt a drug-free life.
As part of the campaign, an awareness rally was taken out on the university campus, in which students from various departments participated enthusiastically. Through the rally, the youth gave the message of a drug-free society and appealed to people to stay away from intoxicating substances.
After the rally, students were administered a pledge to live a drug-free life and to help make society drug-free. Short films based on the theme of drug de-addiction were also screened for the students, providing information about the harmful effects of addiction, ways to prevent it and the importance of a healthy life.

As part of the programme, Inspector Viveka Nand of the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), Bhopal Zone, delivered a special lecture. He gave students detailed information about various types of narcotic substances, their physical, mental and social ill-effects, trafficking of intoxicating substances, crimes committed through cyber channels and legal provisions related to drug abuse. He said that if any person needs drug-related assistance or wants to report illegal activities involving narcotic substances, they can contact the NCB’s 24×7 national narcotics helpline ‘MANAS’ on the toll-free number 1933. A facility to register complaints confidentially is also available through the UMANG app. He called upon students to spread awareness against drug abuse and play an active role in making society drug-free.
University Vice-Chancellor Prof Narendra Kumar Thapak, Registrar Dr Ajit Kumar Soni, heads of various departments, faculty members and a large number of students were present on the occasion. Students were urged to take active part in all awareness activities organised under the “Keeping Away From Intoxicants Is Essential” campaign and to spread the message of de-addiction among their families, friends and society. The students also resolved to join the campaign, actively support every activity and play an important role in building a drug-free India.
