CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: On the auspicious occasion of Makar Sankranti, a grand Kite Festival was organized at the LNCT University campus on Kolar Road. The festival was enthusiastically attended by students, faculty, and staff of the university, along with journalists and media personnel. During the event, an exciting kite-flying competition was held among journalists, students, and staff, with participants actively taking part. Members of the Sanatan Press Club, including journalists and media professionals, also participated in the celebrations.
The program’s chief guests—Mayor Malti Rai, storyteller Dharmpathik Shailendra Krishna Maharaj, and Acharya Shashank Shekhar Maharaj—flew kites in the sky, symbolizing harmony, brotherhood, and the spirit of Indian culture. The festival commenced with a traditional lighting of the lamp ceremony.
On this occasion, Mayor Malti Rai described Makar Sankranti as a festival of social harmony and renewed energy, highlighting that such events help bring society together. Dr. N.K. Thapak, Vice-Chancellor of LNCT University, emphasized the importance of connecting youth with Indian culture. Meanwhile, Dharmpathik Shailendra Krishna Maharaj and Acharya Shashank Shekhar Maharaj highlighted the religious and cultural significance of Makar Sankranti.
During the festival, participants were honored in various interesting categories such as “First Kite Cut,” “Best Fun Photo,” and “Most Unique Kite.” Winners and participants were presented with shawls, mementos, and participation certificates by Mayor Malti Rai, Dharmpathik Shailendra Krishna Maharaj, Acharya Shashank Shekhar Maharaj, Vice-Chancellor Dr. N.K. Thapak, and Registrar Dr. Ajit Kumar Soni.
