CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: As the counting of votes for the Lok Sabha polls in 542 constituencies began on Tuesday morning, the early trends have shown that, as most pollsters predicted, the BJP-led NDA is clearly having an edge.
The exit polls have predicted that while the “400 paar” target may be too ambitious, the BJP is likely to get close to achieving the target this time around if the significant lead in the early trends is anything to go by. All the exit polls have predicted a massive victory for the NDA. In 2019, the BJP alone managed to secure 303 seats. Some predictions suggest that the saffron party might do better than last time.
As the results started coming in, former Chhattisgarh CM & BJP Leader Raman Singh said, “Today is an important day for the country, a change is going to happen in India. It has become clear that with an absolute majority, Narendra Modi ji is going to become the Prime Minister for the third time.”
Even before the counting began, the BJP had already secured one seat, with Mukesh Dalal of the saffron party winning the Surat Lok Sabha seat unopposed after the EC rejected the nomination of Congress candidate Nilesh Kumbhani.
