CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Actor Kangana Ranaut is leading from Mandi in Himachal Pradesh while Arun Govil, the BJP candidate in Meerut, is trailing, as per early trends.
The BJP is ahead of Congress in all four Lok Sabha seats in Himachal Pradesh and Ranaut’s lead has surpassed 20,000 votes. Ranaut takes on Congress veteran Vikramaditya Singh in the constituency. Though Mandi has been a Congress stronghold for decades, in 2019, Ram Swaroop Sharma of the BJP won the seat by a massive margin of over 43%.
Another prominent candidate who is leading the race in Himachal is Anurag Thakur, who is seeking a fifth term in the Hamirpur Parliament seat, are leading.
Meanwhile, early reports are that actor Shatrughan Sinha of the Trinamool Congress (TMC) is trailing from Asansol Lok Sabha Constituency.
Other actors-turned-candidates who are leading include Hema Malini from Mathura, Suresh Gopi from Kerala’s Thrissur and Ravi Kishan from UP’s Gorakhpur.
