CNN Central News & Networks / ITDC India ePress / ITDC News /Agencies/ Bhopal: Lost Both Palms at 10, Rajveer Becomes Tehsildar Through Struggle
The story of Rajveer Gurjar of Dausa district in Rajasthan is an example of courage, hard work and determination. Despite losing the palms of both hands in a painful accident at the age of just 10, he did not give up his studies or his dream of becoming an officer. Leaving physical challenges behind, Rajveer cleared the Rajasthan Administrative Service (RAS)-2024 examination and has now been allotted the post of tehsildar.
Brought Home an Explosive Object Thinking It Was a Toy
Rajveer is a resident of Salempur village in Rajasthan’s Dausa district. One day in his childhood, he saw an object on the road in front of his house that looked like a toy to him. He brought it home to play with it. When he tried to play with it, it suddenly exploded. In the accident, the palms of both his hands were badly damaged and had to be lost.
Learned to Write With the Help of His Wrists
After the accident, continuing his education was the biggest challenge before Rajveer. But he did not surrender to circumstances. He practised holding a pen between the remaining parts of both hands. Through continuous effort, he learned to write and completed his journey from school education to higher education in the same way. He obtained postgraduate degrees in Hindi and political science.
Success in Second Attempt After First Failure
Rajveer had dreamed of becoming an administrative officer since childhood. He began preparing for the Rajasthan Administrative Service and relied mainly on self-study. He did not succeed in his first attempt at the RAS, but instead of giving up, he prepared again. In his second attempt, he cleared the examination and secured the fourth rank in the persons with disabilities category. After this, he was allotted the Rajasthan Tehsildar Service.
Strong Support From Family
Rajveer’s father, Vikram Singh, is a head constable in the police department, while his mother is a homemaker. During his studies and preparation for the competitive examination, his family continuously supported him. Rajveer now wants to work honestly in administrative service and help children with disabilities and needy children. His achievement sends the message that difficult circumstances in life do not end a person’s dreams. With strong willpower, continuous practice and family support, even difficult goals can be achieved.
