CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Concerns over a potential Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) shortage are beginning to affect daily life across several major Indian cities, including Delhi, Mumbai, and Bengaluru. Restaurants, street food vendors, and small eateries that rely heavily on LPG cylinders for cooking are increasingly facing supply uncertainties. As a precaution, many food businesses have begun shrinking their menus to focus on items that require less cooking time or fuel consumption.

At the same time, customers are experiencing longer queues at eateries and food stalls, as limited cooking capacity slows service. Some establishments are also adjusting operating hours to conserve fuel, while others are exploring alternative energy sources such as electric or induction cooking where feasible.

The situation has created anxiety among both business owners and consumers, especially in densely populated urban centers where LPG is a primary cooking fuel. Industry groups have urged authorities to closely monitor supply chains and ensure uninterrupted distribution to prevent disruptions in food services and household kitchens.

Experts warn that if supply concerns continue, the ripple effects could impact urban food economies, delivery platforms, and daily household cooking routines. Authorities, however, maintain that steps are being taken to stabilize supplies and avoid widespread shortages.
