CNN Central News & Networks / ITDC India ePress / ITDC News /Agencies/ Bhopal: The weather pattern in Uttar Pradesh has changed completely under the influence of cyclonic storm Arnab. A sharp fall in temperature has been recorded due to continuous rain and cold winds in several districts of the state, including the capital Lucknow. In Lucknow, spells of rain and drizzle have continued intermittently for about 45 hours. The Meteorological Department has issued a rain alert for 23 districts of the state.
Due to the rain, the maximum temperature in several districts has dropped by 5 to 8 degrees Celsius. In the capital Lucknow, the maximum temperature was recorded at 23.8 degrees Celsius, 7.6 degrees below normal. This fall in daytime temperature in October has made people feel the onset of cold ahead of time. In Orai, the minimum temperature was recorded at 16.2 degrees Celsius.
Fog and mist were also seen in the morning in around 10 districts of the western parts of the state. This affected visibility on roads. Meanwhile, an incident of road subsidence in Kaushambi has added to the problems of local residents. Continuous rain has also caused waterlogging and traffic-related problems at several places.
The rain is also affecting farmers. The risk of damage has increased as harvested paddy crops kept in fields and threshing yards have become wet. According to the Meteorological Department, light to moderate rain may continue in some parts of eastern and western Uttar Pradesh on October 31. However, the weather is likely to improve from Sunday and clouds may clear. The administration has advised people to exercise caution during bad weather and farmers to keep harvested crops in safe places.
