On its opening day, the psychological thriller amassed ₹13 crore in domestic net collections, outshining Tiger Shroff’s Baaghi 4, which earned approximately ₹12 crore. Despite releasing on fewer screens, Madharaasi garnered significant attention, thanks to positive word-of-mouth and glowing reviews. Critics have lauded the film as Murugadoss’s best work in years, drawing comparisons to his acclaimed film Ghajini. The film’s strong performance was bolstered by increasing occupancy throughout the day, with morning shows at 46% and night shows reaching 77%.

Madharaasi features an ensemble cast including Rukmini Vasanth, Vidyut Jammwal, Biju Menon, Vikranth, and Shabeer Kallarakkal.
