CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Bhopal: June 20 was a particularly significant day for Madhya Pradesh. Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav and Union Minister for Housing and Urban Affairs Manohar Lal Khattar performed the bhoomi pujan for houses worth more than Rs 2,548 crore under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban). More than 42,000 beneficiaries will benefit from this. They also marked the griha-pravesh of 38,000 houses built at a cost of Rs 992 crore.
Along with this, they inaugurated 116 projects worth Rs 446 crore and performed bhoomi pujan for 37 projects worth a total of Rs 310.82 crore. In addition, CM Dr. Mohan Yadav and Union Minister Khattar also performed bhoomi pujan for the 48.10-km Indore-Ujjain greenfield four-lane project to be built at a cost of Rs 2,935 crore. This will benefit 20 villages in Indore, 8 in Ujjain and 40-50 nearby villages. A journey that currently takes hours will now be completed in minutes.
On the occasion, Dr. Mohan Yadav said Indore, Ujjain and Sanwer had received development works worth Rs 5,657 crore. He called it a historic moment for the people of the state. He said bhoomi pujan had been performed for a direct road from Pitreshwar Mahadev in Indore to Baba Mahakal. He said the project would connect Pithampur onward to the Delhi-Mumbai Economic Corridor in the Nimar region and become an important route for economic prosperity in the area. The state government, he said, had reduced the height of the project on the demand of farmers, which would also help their movement. In ancient times, saints and devotees used to travel on foot along this route throughout the year, he said, adding that the Ujjain region would emerge as a new symbol of development. He also said that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 12 years in office, India had carved out a distinct identity in the country and the world.
Targeting the Congress, Dr. Yadav said Madhya Pradesh had become the first state to move towards being free from Naxalism under the guidance of Prime Minister Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah. He said there was also a period when Naxalites had openly murdered a minister of the then government at a crossroads. Alleging that the Congress government failed to act against the killers of its own minister, he said it was afraid to take action against Naxalites for fear of losing its vote bank. He said his government had taken firm action against those who defamed democracy. He further alleged that the path chosen by Congress led to the opening of new factories of terrorism across the country, and said terrorism had now been wiped out nationwide. He added that the Government of India was securing the country internally and along its borders.
Dr. Yadav said Fatehabad and Chandrawati were once major centres of trade and commerce between Indore and Ujjain. Along with the existing route, the new greenfield road would become a new symbol of development, he said. Calling it a new sunrise for the Ujjain-Indore metropolitan city, he said the metropolitan area spread over 16,000 sq km up to Indore, Ujjain, Dewas, Shajapur, Dhar and Ratlam would include six railway junctions, two airports, four airstrips and two highways. Roads, he said, play a vital role in the development of industry, trade, agriculture and employment. Fatehabad is also set to receive the gift of a double railway track, he added.
The Chief Minister said that in Krishak Kalyan Varsh 2026, the state government had taken several farmer-friendly decisions. Madhya Pradesh, he said, had set a national record by procuring the highest quantity of wheat from farmers. Wheat had been procured from nearly 13.75 lakh farmers in the state and payment of Rs 2,625 per quintal had been made. He also urged farmers and youth riding motorcycles and other two-wheelers for business, trade or employment to wear helmets. To protect lives, the state government has decided to run a helmet safety campaign, he said, adding that helmets play a life-saving role in road accidents. As part of this effort, the Indore administration was distributing helmets there.
Union Minister Manohar Lal Khattar said the Indore-Ujjain greenfield four-lane project, costing around Rs 2,900 crore, would reduce the distance between the two cities. He said Ujjain was a city of faith and inspiration, while Indore was a centre of economy and employment. With the development of the Ujjain-Indore metropolitan area, employment, education and infrastructure would expand on a large scale, he said. He said 38,000 families had been given griha-pravesh into houses built at a cost of Rs 2,500 crore. He added that 20,000 small traders in the region had been given Rs 51 crore under the Svanidhi Yojana. Under AMRUT 2.0, sewerage and drainage projects had been inaugurated, and vehicles and equipment for 36 fire brigade stations had been provided. He said Madhya Pradesh needed to work faster for the Swachh Bharat Mission. He also said development works worth Rs 5,657 crore had been dedicated to the public. Praising the state government, he said excellent Smart City work had been carried out in Ujjain under the leadership of Chief Minister Dr. Yadav and described it as a commendable initiative. He said Dr. Mohan Yadav was a visionary Chief Minister who would take Madhya Pradesh much further.
Water Resources Minister Tulsi Silawat said Chief Minister Dr. Yadav had the special blessings of Mahakal and was working with full commitment for the grand and divine Simhastha 2028. In this sequence, bhoomi pujan had been performed for the Indore-Ujjain greenfield four-lane project costing Rs 2,935 crore, he said. For the 48.10-km highway, compensation of Rs 816 crore had been paid to 916 farmers from 28 villages. He said the road was not only a link between Indore and Ujjain but would also provide connectivity to the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway and Gujarat.
