CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav Highlights Madhya Pradesh’s Rich Tourism Diversity at Sarsi Island Inauguration

Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav stated that Madhya Pradesh is enriched with diverse tourism offerings. While visiting Sarsi Island in Rewanchal, he remarked, “It feels like experiencing Goa or the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.” Madhya Pradesh, with its unique attractions, continues to draw visitors from around the world. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Madhya Pradesh is steadily advancing on the path of development. As part of the state government’s first-year completion celebrations, the Jan Kalyan Parv is being observed, with new milestones of progress being achieved daily.

Developed by the Tourism Development Corporation with an investment of ₹29 crore, Sarsi Island spans 5 hectares in the Bansagar Dam. The island is set to provide a new dimension to the state’s tourism landscape.

Speaking at the inaugural ceremony of Sarsi Island in Shahdol district, Chief Minister Dr. Yadav emphasized connecting Sarsi Island with Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve and Sanjay National Park to promote tourism. Plans are also underway to enhance water tourism at Bansagar Dam.

Tribal and Cultural Interactions

During the event, Dr. Yadav interacted with young regional artist Manya Pandey, congratulated her on her talent, and announced a cash prize of ₹51,000. He also joined tribal folk artists in playing traditional instruments like jhanjh and kartal. Additionally, he announced a prize of ₹5,000 for each member of the performing musical groups.

Tourism Facilities at Sarsi Island

The Chief Minister reviewed the facilities developed for tourists at Sarsi Island, which include a Tourist Facilitation Center, three boat clubs, 10 residential units, a restaurant and bar, a conference hall, a gym, a library, a children’s play area, and sports facilities such as badminton, table tennis, star gazing, sand volleyball, and cycling. The site also features landscaped gardens and a 40-kilowatt solar power system.

Connectivity to Sarsi Island has been enhanced through Markandeya Ghat (Maihar district) and Itma Ghat (Umaria district). Additional facilities include a boat club, four speedboats, one jet ski, a mini-cruise, dormitories for drivers, parking, cafeterias, and public amenities.

Acknowledging Efforts

Dr. Yadav watched a short film about Sarsi Island and praised the Tourism Development Corporation for its efforts. He also released a brochure dedicated to the island.

Boating and Competitions

 

The Chief Minister inspected the boat club and participated in a boating activity. He awarded the winners of the boating competition organized by the Tourism Development Corporation.

Cultural Performances

At the inauguration event, tribal artists from Birhuli village performed, with Dr. Yadav encouraging their efforts by playing instruments alongside them. A special song by Manya Pandey titled “CM Vindhya ko Rahe Sajaye, Humare CM Sabko Bhaye, Sab Rahe Sukh-Chain ke Saath” was also presented, adding a celebratory touch to the occasion.
