Investigating agencies have received another major success in the Mahadev online betting app case. Information has emerged that the app’s co-promoter and key accused Ravi Uppal has been arrested in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE). Indian investigating agencies are working to take forward the extradition process to bring him to India. The development comes a few days after co-promoter Saurabh Chandrakar was brought to India from Oman.
According to information attributed to officials, Ravi Uppal’s arrest in Dubai was made on the basis of an Interpol Red Notice. However, according to some reports, the UAE has not yet formally informed India about the arrest. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and the Enforcement Directorate (ED) are making efforts to have him extradited to India.
According to investigating agencies, both Ravi Uppal and Saurabh Chandrakar are residents of Bhilai in Chhattisgarh and have been linked to the operation of the Mahadev Online Book betting network. It has been reported that Ravi Uppal had also obtained a passport of Vanuatu, a country in the South Pacific region, after giving up his Indian passport.
The investigation into illegal online betting and alleged money laundering in the Mahadev app case is continuing. Bringing Ravi Uppal to India is expected to provide important information in the probe into this network and the financial transactions linked to it.
