CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: The Maharashtra government has formed a five-member high-level committee to investigate alleged paper leaks and irregularities in Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC) recruitment examinations. Senior IAS officer Tukaram Mundhe has been appointed secretary of the committee, while former Allahabad High Court Chief Justice Dilip Bhosale will chair it. The committee has been given two months to complete the inquiry and submit its report. Its mandate is to examine the alleged lapses in the examination process and suggest reforms in the commission’s functioning.
MPSC aspirants had been protesting in Pune for the past 10 to 11 days. Their key demands included an impartial inquiry into the alleged paper leak, action against commission chairman Vivek Bhimanwar, and transparency in the recruitment process. After talks late Sunday night between government representatives and the protesting aspirants, agreement was reached on several demands.
Following this, commission chairman Vivek Bhimanwar announced that he would go on leave until the inquiry is completed. On the protesters’ demand, assurances were also given that cases registered during the agitation would be withdrawn and the number of posts in the 2027 Group-C recruitment examination would be increased. After the government’s decisions, the aspirants ended their protest. However, confirmation of the paper leak allegations and action against those responsible will now depend on the inquiry committee’s report and further government action.
