CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: The Government of Maharashtra has unveiled a visionary plan aimed at creating inclusive infrastructure, equal opportunities, and dignity for differently-abled citizens across the state. The ambitious initiative targets providing access and facilities to nearly 29 lakh differently-abled individuals by 2047.

During a recent policy announcement, state officials emphasized the need to focus on accessible public spaces, transportation, and workplaces, ensuring that every citizen enjoys equal opportunity regardless of physical ability. The government plans to collaborate with private institutions, NGOs, and civic bodies to implement inclusive designs in schools, colleges, hospitals, and urban infrastructure.

The roadmap also includes the introduction of assistive technologies, skill development programs, and employment schemes tailored specifically for differently-abled individuals. This initiative aims not only to enhance physical accessibility but also to empower citizens economically and socially, bridging the gap between differently-abled and able-bodied populations.

Officials highlighted that inclusive infrastructure is central to Maharashtra’s development vision, reflecting the principles of equality and dignity enshrined in India’s constitutional framework. Regular monitoring, community participation, and policy reforms will ensure effective implementation.

This initiative is expected to transform Maharashtra into a model state for accessibility and inclusivity, setting a benchmark for other regions in India. The government reiterated its commitment to leave no citizen behind, emphasizing that sustainable development must be inclusive and accessible to all.

By 2047, Maharashtra aims to achieve a fully inclusive society, where infrastructure, opportunities, and dignity are guaranteed for every differently-abled individual.
